Accutane Question?!

Question:

Accutane Question?

I am currently on my 3rd month of my 4Month prescription , and I was just wondering what would happen if I was to go out one night and drink alcohol?
Also what would happen if I was to say play football out in the sun for an hour or two without sunblock?

Answers:

OK...

A. Sun ==> Since you have already taken the medication for 3 months your skin should be really sensitive by now, so no, I'd say that 2 hours in the sun without sunblock (especially if you're in California per se) would be very bad for your skin. In fact, 2 hours in the sun without sunblock would be bad for anyone... I'd say, NO, don't do it.

B. Alcohol ==> Accutan enhanses the activity of certain enzymes and reduces that of others. The thing is that it messes with your liver metabolism (and so is alcohol). The advice is ofcourse that no alcohol should be cosumed whatsoever- that is true with ALL meds, BUT for some (SUCH AS ACCUTANE!!) it is really important NOT to consume any alcohol. Now, if your liver function tested recently just fine ( I suppose you are taking regular tests since you're on this med), I think that ONE BEER would be fine, ONCE every other week let's say. But that's as much as you should get if you cannot help it. If I were you (though I admit to being a drinker myself) I'd refrain for 4 moths completelly. After all, it's just 4 months... be a man!

Take care :-)
