How much protein should i be taking? someone help please, thanks.?!

Question:

How much protein should i be taking? someone help please, thanks.?

im a 15 year old male, im about 5'8 and weigh around 129 lbs.
I just went out and bought a tub of Syntha-6 protein powder. It's 23 grams of protein a scoop, and it reccomends you take 2 scoops in 10oz of milk for males. For my age i have no idea if that's right. I try and get a good weight lifting workout at the gym 3-5 times a week. Now i dont wanna get HUGE, im just looking for a bit bigger arms, but im mainly doing this so i can increase my maximmum bench amount by 45 lbs, as im pretty weak right now and can only do 100, yeah its embrassing but whatever thats why i got some protein and im hoping someone can help me out with how much to take, my moms saying only 23 grams a day but i doubt thatll do much, so someone give me an idea please and thankyou

Answers:

too much protein can give you the poops something aweful. my trainer said to maintain your current muscle tissue if you are moderately exercising would be 1gm per 1lb of lean body mass per day. 213 lbs of me is lean body mass (as acurately tested by an electronic body composition analysis done at the YMCA) so I need to consume 213gms of protein a day. if I was a body builder then I would have to double it. so the amount you should take depends on your activity level as you want to be able to use the protein you are consuming you also don't want to get keto-acidosis so perhaps go to your local YMCA and get them to do that test and the trainer can advise you specifically to you.
