Number one? Relax. Stress raises your blood sugar.

Learning all you can about controlling or preventing diabetes is the best thing you can do to stop your worry. Being (type 2) diabetic is no big deal if you're armed with the right information. It usually doesn't require injections, if that's what's worrying you. It can be reversed, too. It simply requires an attitude adjustment. (You should do this anyway). Learn to eat to live instead of living to eat. It's not nearly as big a sacrifice as a lot of people make it seem. You just need to learn some basic nutrition principles and follow them. You also need to incorporate some daily exercise into your routine. You see, these are things you should be doing anyway... diabetic or not.

Here are some very helpful resources to get you started:

lay off carbs

Just cut back on carbohydrates and sugar. Don't eat white bread and pasta and don't eat anything sweet. It vegetabels, some fruits and protein like meat, fish, chicken etc. You should be okay.

you want to try to stay away from sugar and starches such as potatoes, bread, pasta because starches also turn into sugar .there are alot of diet products on the market today but you have to watch some of them because of the fat in them ,just watch what you eat and eat small portions.

AND start doing exercise 30 minutes a day or more. good luck

a few books that I recommend even if you are determined to be "pre" diabetic!
"Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year"
"Atkins Diabetes Revolution"
"South Beach" any of their diet books.

A diagnosis of "pre" diabetes or Diabetes requires a lifestyle change. It can help you to prevent the onset of some rather nasty effects of having Hyper glucose levels. Any fasting reading of over 126 causes damage to small blood vessels in fingers, toes, and eyes. It also damages nerve endings in those locations.

I really do wish one of my previous doctors had been more savvy about these things. It may have prevented lots I now have wrong in my system.
