Ok....question about HIV...read all details and respond please!?!

Question: I am 19 years old. I am a virgin, saving myself for marriage. I do NOT use IV drugs and my parents are completely healthy.

I have a phobia of HIV and I have OCD.

I got my blood drawn the other day for another HIV test (one out of the 7 that I have had already) and because I am anemic and needed to get my iron checked.

Well, I saw the lady who drew the blood from pull a new needle thingy out of the drawer and take the cap off. So I think it was clean.

But now, I have a small red bruise and it isn't even where the needle was injected....

Did I contract HIV from this blood being drawn?

Please help!

Absolutely not! Sometimes when you get blood drawn you get bruising or spots not in the area where the blood was taken but from an area not far from it. You have to remember when you have blood drawn the needle sticks your vein which is under the skin, which causes bruising under the skin. It can show anywhere.
Also, if they put a band aid over it when they were done, the redness can be caused from the type of latex in the band aid.
It is not uncommon at all!

No, I guarantee you did not contract HIV. Used needles are immediately discarded in medical offices.

first of all i commend you for staying a virgin you are very smart. if you looked around the room you were having this done in there shouldve been a red or orange box on the wall with a biohazard sticker onit this is called a SHARPS container and any needles used are immediately disposed of into this container you will not get hiv from someone drawing your blood unless that person has it and has an open wound and you have an open wound and thier open wound leaks some kind of bodily fluid into your open wound you can contract it that way sometimes bruises are not always on the direct mark i fell on my knee and the side of my leg bruised so not to worry about that either just make sure you make whoever you decide to marry get tested for ALL sexually transmitted diseases b4 u marry cause guys are liars and he might say hes a virgin and thats might not be true

all honesty...you're being a drama queen. your 7th test?! and you're only 19? you're not even having sex and there should be no reasons for you to take it so many times. (not that is the only way you could get it...but the most common)

Unless your always around someone who has HIV (which i doubt very much) Take it easy. Life can't always be about fears and insecurities.

I mean that.

Listen to the song from Rascal Flatts, Skin, it tells of a girl whose bruise never healed and it was a cancer, OMG take this serious, go get checked out and listen to that song.

You Didn't get HIV they dispose of dirty needles she got a clean one out of the drawer with a cap on it.the Bruise can be caused by a few things some times before they stick the needle in they push very hard on on the arm to try to find the vein you being anemic you also bruise easier. Also sometimes when the stick the needle in the vein it may collapse from the trauma of the needle and that would explain why the Bruise is not directly at the spot where she stuck the needle . I have had this happen to me I got my blood taken and I got a bruise a few inches below where they stuck me so do not worry it is normal.

hope you have a wonderful day and relax

NO. your worrying needlessly. you can only catch hiv from somebody already infected. and having sexuall intercourse.
