What could cause a whitish bump on the glossopalatine arch?!

Question: I have a moderate sized sore/bump on my glossopalatine arch (fisrt arch in the mouth, the one that comes before the tonsils). It doesn't look like a regular canker sore, and since it's not on the tonsils it's not tonsillitis (...right?). I also have symptoms of a cold and sometimes chills that started the same day I noticed this bump.

Any ideas on what it could be? It hurts. Makes swallowing painful. And there's just one nump.

You can get sores from different infections on any part of your mucous membranes (anywhere inside the mouth). The location being on the arch isn't diagnostic for any specific disease. Since your bump started with your other symptoms, most likely you have a virus. Viruses cause lots of mouth sores in younger people. It should clear up when your cold symptoms go away. Its called stomatitis and I wouldn't be surprised if you started getting more. Warning signs to see doc.... high fever, inability to swallow, pain not improved with tylenol/advil

Strep throat?? Herpes??? Common cold virus??? Gonorrhea?? Syphilis???
See your doctor to be sure what this is.
Good luck.
