That would be MRSA. It is a staff germ that is resistant to most antibiotics. It is not an epidemic. MRSA has been around for years and years, it's just that it's becomming more common because people are using antibiotics where they are not needed, causing bacteria to become resistant to them. People that are clean and healthy do not need to worry about contracting this germ. It mostly affects people who are already sick, elderly, or immunocomprimized. I did not see the video you speak of, but I immagine the football team passed the germ around by sharing pads, and not showering properly. That's pretty gross, actually, but definately possible. You can protect yourself by good handwashing and showering daily. Keep open sores covered with band aides-

Do you mean "MRSA infection"?
Staphylococci are gram-positive, aerobic organisms. Staphylococcus aureus is the most pathogenic; it typically causes skin infections and sometimes pneumonia, endocarditis, and osteomyelitis. It commonly leads to abscess formation. Some strains elaborate toxins that cause gastroenteritis, scalded skin syndrome, and toxic shock syndrome. Diagnosis is by Gram stain and culture. Treatment is usually with penicillinase-resistant
