Do you think with advances in medicine that we will ever find the cure for cance!

Question: Yes, but not in the way that you envision. Cancer is not one disease but many. Cancer is also a progressive disease which means that when it is small it can be 'treated and cured'. Cancer is also a very individual disease . . successful treatment depends on patient age, reaction to treatment, tumor location, and overall health. So . . if you are asking if one drug will cure all cancer . .than the answer is no . . but if you are asking if they will someday find the riddle to stopping the development of cancer before it becomes a disease . . than . .yes. At the moment research is concentrating on targeted therapies . . researchers are looking at each individual type of cancer . . and they are able to target that type of tumor only . . do some reading on chronic myelogenous leukemia and Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST) to see what targeted therapy has done for these diseases. Targeted therapies are allowing people to survive longer with few side effects and in many cases people are now living with cancer (the disease may be present, but is controlled with medication):

(Imatinib)

Research may be closer than you imagine.

Incidentally, there are many other diseases without 'cures' too . . among them . . the common cold.

eventually yes but not in our lifetime

yes i think so.

I think the human race can find a way to cure anything given the proper amount of time (and money).

I would say 15-25 years and we'll have a 'cure' for certain types of cancer.

yes, but why release it when the government is makinkg billions of dollars off their medications. You know they found a cure for aids already?

Probably not...first of all look at what cancer really is...the nucleus of a normal cell gets reprogrammed by different chemicals to reproduce very fast... so theres nothing we can do to these cells except to remove them by surgery. Even if we would find the right chemicals to reprogram the nucleus of the cancerous cell to a normal function, there will be too many cancerous cells and the chemicals won't be able to reprogram the nucleus of all these cancerous cells.

First the term cancer is one that encompasses many different types of disease that involves abnormal cell growth. We can stop many forms of cancer if detected at an early stage including Prostate and colon. Some types of cancers including some types of leukemia we are unable to control. The survival rate for many cancers have increased due to new treatments including radiation and chemo. As time goes on I am confident we will continue to control many more forms of this once deadly syndrome
