What is wrong with MY NOSE????????!
Question: I need some help!!!! I just recovered from a mild cold, and ever since I have had really bad congestion. A couple days ago my left nostril started being really dry, and yesterday I woke up to find it swollen and painful. Now, it feels like it's pulsating, it stings and itches, and it hurts like hell!! I have to blow my nose but can't, because the nostril hurts so bad. I can't see a doctor, but I want to know what this can be!!! I've had the same problem last year, but it wasn't as bad as this!

Sorry if it's gross. By the way, it's more red looking in real life. Does anyone know what this is? How can I treat it to make it go away faster?? How do I prevent it?? It's really embarassing to have it, and I'm putting neosporin and an antibiotic ointment on it.

oh honey i had the same thing in my nostril too. its a fever blister, or a cold sore. i hate when i get that! treat it as a cold sore. do not mess with it. if the fluid inside gets in contact with ur lips or eyes or ur other nostril, it will spread. put some abreva, or campho-phenique on it. next time u get that, as soon as u feel the tingling, itching sensation put some abreva or campho-phenique on it right away. it will help it heal faster.
You really should see a doctor. I am no expert but it looks a lot like impetigo. Which is a staph infection that is REALLY contagious! The nose is full of staph all the time. Your immune system is down from having a cold, and you probably had some tenderness/raw areas from blowing it. The staph probably infected open broken skin. Please consider seeing a doctor, in the meantime, apply antibiotic ointment, don't touch it, and keep your hands VERY clean.
