What's wrong with MY NOSE?????????????!
Question: I need some help!!!! I just recovered from a mild cold, and ever since I have had really bad congestion. A couple days ago my left nostril started being really dry, and yesterday I woke up to find it swollen and painful. Now, it feels like it's pulsating, it stings and itches, and it hurts like hell!! I have to blow my nose but can't, because the nostril hurts so bad. I can't see a doctor, but I want to know what this can be!!! I've had the same problem last year, but it wasn't as bad as this!

Sorry if it's gross. By the way, it's more red looking in real life. Does anyone know what this is? How can I treat it to make it go away faster?? How do I prevent it?? It's really embarassing to have it, and I'm putting neosporin and an antibiotic ointment on it.

Looks like you have fever blisters (common name for it). Best thing for it is a product called Abreva. Also I wouldn't add too much neosporin it needs to dry out. Abreva is a bit spendy but it will work @ around $25 for a very small tube. Instead of Neosporin try using Carmex or some Campophenique. Most importantly do NOT rub it, scratch or pick at it. It will make it worse.
***By the way it is a form of herpes. It can be spread so just be conscious of it. I think type 2 simplex. I havent seen a case so severe as yours but I'm 99% sure thats what you are describing down to the symptoms.

I think what you're doing is the best you can do at home.
Is that herpes? Seriously.....can you get it on your nose? Go to your doctor and make sure it's nothing serious.
The pores in that area became clogged during your cold. My advice for the future is to use a good scrub/cleanser to clear your pores. Do NOT pick at it right now as this may cause the infection to go deeper under the skin and may end up requiring medical attention. It will pass in a little while. I had the same thing when I was young but NEXT to my nose rather than under it. Just use a good cleanser and don't use oily creams on your face.
