Have you ever had a gall bladder attack? If so, will you tell me what the sympto!

Question: I am not asking for myself, but for a friend who is in agony right now and wonders if she should go to Emergency? I am going to insist on taking her if she isn't better very soon.

Depends on if it's with / without gallstones. Signs and symptoms of Gallbladder attacks are:

Acute onset of fever.

Pain in the right upper abdomen, under or below the rib cage.

Ingestion of fatty foods that produce pain in the abdominal area may indicate a chronic problem. (Chocolate, Caffeine, etc.)

Mild Jaundice (may be noticed in the whites of the eyes).

Enlarged and tender area detected upon palpation just to the right below the rib cage.

Vague abdominal pain possible with chronic gall bladder conditions.

Moderate to severe onset of pain in upper right quadrant of abdomen, which may radiate to back between shoulder blades, right shoulder and jaw area.

Burping with / without pain in esophogus.

I don't have gallstones but have occassional gallbladder pain. I will drink dill pickle juice and eat dill pickles to calm the pain down. (It really helps!)

Vomiting, severe nausa. Depends on if you have gall stones.

Pain at about the last rib on the right side that goes clear through to the back and it is very bad. She may need to go to the ER.

my uncle had to get his gall bladder taken out cuz he had a kindey stone stuck in the valve that leads to the gall bladder.
in his case, if my uncle didn't go to emergency, he could've died.... he had to get an emergency surgery. please tell her to go.

Yes you should take them to the doctor right away. Propably gall stones. Passing them is pure h;;ll. I think that they shatter them now, so its not so painful. Hurry now and good luck.

Yes, I did. Not fun at all. Severe pain in middle to lower right side If it gets too bad, like I was you end up in the floor rolled up in a ball. I had so much bad that the gallstones had gotten out of the gallbladder. The appendix is also close to it.
With either one, if severe pain get to ER.can cause nausea too.========

Well i had a really bad gaulbladder when i was really young. It was full of stones nad they ended up removing it. all i remember is that it was increadbly painful. It became more painful if i ate certain foods, like pickles. My advice is that she should go to the Doctor, because even if it isn't her gaulbladder it maybe something else. It doesn't hurt to have it checked out!

When i had gall stones it felt like someone was stabbing me in my right upper ribs and i had really bad heartburn. I suggest taking her to the ER if she starts vomitting and running a fever.

I've had gall bladder attacks/removal. All are different. I've also had kidney stones that are excruciating. Here are some sites below. Call your local ER to see what they have to say. Good luck and hope your friend gets well soon.

I had it for years, went to the ER a couple of times. They don't do anything, don't waste your money. Go to a Gastroenologists. (sp?) They will do ultra sounds. Everyone is different, my "attacks" started my lower back, to the side and around to the front of my stomach. Worst pain ever!!! Couldn't sleep, sit, stand sometimes for hours. It hurt so bad I would cry ALOT!!!
Long story short, I had my gall bladder taken out.
(My doc. was Dr. Floch,MD. Norwalk, CT.)
