Answers: How do the doctors tell which one you have?

Respiratory infection is a general term that describes an infection in any part of the respiratory tract which starts from nose to throat to lungs. Pneumonia is an infection of the lungs so it is a type of respiratory infection. It is usually diagnosed via chest x-ray which demonstrates infiltrates in the lungs. The symptoms of pneumonia are worse than the general cold. Usually there is coughing with sputum, chest pain, fever... Antibiotics are required for treatment.
