I am a little worried...?!

Question: i found a small lump under my right ribcage-----the size of a large marble or maybe the tip of my thumb----it moves freely when I palpate it.....after discovering it last night and messing with it it has been vaguely achy today. I have had what i thought was gallbladder pain for a while now and have a gallbladder ultrasound sceduled for dec 31st, but now am wondering if I should call the dr tomorrow and try to get in sooner. Did a google search of lumps under ribcage and came up with lipoma? Anyone have any thoughts, besides see my doctor?

I'm just going to give my honest opinion about it. First of all, if you stress about it, you're only going to feel worse. If the lump is freely moveable and doesn't feel like its attached to anything, then it may just be a benign mass of some sort. What does it feel like? Is it hard as a rock? somewhat soft? does it hurt when you press on it? I'm in nursing school and learn about this stuff daily, so of course I have a lot of questions! If it makes you feel better I would may try to get an earlier appointment with my doctor, but I would not rush to the ER or anything like that.

you will probably be OK until the 31st. but be sure to let the tech. know of the problem that you are having. after i had my mamo. and biopsy they waited 2 months before chemo started. and i tell you it drove me crazy just knowing and waiting for them to do something. my tumor was the size of a dime when found and by the time chemo started it was half the size of my breast. but of course i was small breasted wore a b in cup size. just try to have good positive thoughts and alot of prayers. things will be OK! god bless!

You did not give your weight or age. Many if not most adults have at least one lipoma - a benign fatty tumor, often located on or under the rib cage. Your description fits perfectly. If you want to call the Dr's nurse and ask her opinion you should go ahead but you can probably safely wait until the 31st when you have the ultrasound to get it looked at. Never underestimate the ability of the human mind to convince someone they may be very sick or on death's door. This is normal human nature and the extreme anxiety caused by finding an unknown bump is perfectly understandable.

wooow thats bad.....um i think you should just go to the ER as soon as possible because if it is cancer you dont want it to get worse.....
