Hey there, my names jennie and I also have an eating disorder (will shorten to ED to save typing)

First up, EDs are not about lack of appetite, it is how they are described medically but in reality they are nothing to do with phyical appetite. What they are is an emotional response to a problem, usually in order to cope with the problem, weather it be a death, stress, loss, abuse.... you can sometimes feel very out of control and this can be a reason why you develop an eating disorder, as a method of control, its like you create your own strange little world where you can feel stable and accepted and not stressed/lost/experience feeling out of control. It works like a charm and the more you use it, the more it works and the harder it can be to remove it from your life.

As a sufferer of 10 years, I recommend that if you notice the problem, get help, waiting 'till it feels right' does not work, in a sense by saying to yourself that you will wait till it feels right is saying you will wait until the security blanket that is an ED doesnt work- the security blanket will always work! that is the point! if it didnt it wouldnt be a good security blanket would it!

You can get help and support for your ED and if you want to work on recovering (n.b the two are different things, you can have support without wanting to recover which is actually more difficult then recovery and support as its maintainint a very difficult way of life which wont improve unless you try to improve it)

The best place to start is with your doctor, they basicly have acess to referring you on to a mental health team or specialist to get help. Once you are referred you see someone for an assesment, this is where you give a bit more info on your problems, (the doctor you only get about 5 or 10 mins, with an assessment you get 50 mins), and once the assesment has been done, you get offered choices, a specialist will offer specialist therapy, CBT seems to be the one most wodely offered, but also psychotherapy and other types of treatment are availible, it really depends on what part of the country you are in.

The important thing is that you have to realise part of you wants out, there will always bee two parts to you, the part that wants to be better/without the ED and the part that wants to stay doing what your doing and results in you being ill. You have to try to separate these parts in your head, you will never be 100% in one side or another BUT the more you act on one side, the bigger that part of you grows, and recovery becomes easier. Pluse you do get support when you are in recovery that you dont always get if you are not in recovery, so it is worth it!

If you have any questions, dont hesitate to ask, and a really good website for you to try is www.b-eat.co.uk and go to the help and support tab then to the message boards, there are loads of us there!

go to the doctor's!!!!!!!!!

i hate to sound like a loser, but try smoking a little weed.

it will increase your appetite, and make you feel a little less stressed.

that's just my suggestion. and i don't mean to offend you if you're anti-drug or anything.

omg ima srry 4 u, well i did suffer from it and i learned its all mental my friends pulled me through it and i luv them 4 dat talk 2 some 1 they can help u!!!!

At least you recognise you have a problem with eating. See your doctor asap. There are lots of things you can do to regain your appetite but you probably aren't ready for that yet.
Please go to your doctor.

you doctor can help you out. Don't worry

I know that I get the munchies after 3 pints of bitter. Beer has loads of calories and vitamins, anyway.

Good luck!

get some supplements from your pharmacy. (drink form) at least then you'll get every thing your body requires for the short term.....but you need to go to the docs for advice if it goes on for too long.
