Genital herpes question?!

Question: i have only ever been with 1 guy, been with him for 6 years and he says hes only been with me. is there a chance either of us could get herpes from only being with eachother or would 1 of us had to have been with someone else? im not sure if i have gotten herpes so im being tested on wednesday, i found a lump. Would just like to know if it came back positive would it mean hes cheated on me?

If you practice oral sex with each other, it could simply mean that one of you (in this case your boyfriend) has oral herpes - aka cold sores - which are normally caught as a child, and that he has transferred his oral infection to your genitals through giving you oral sex.

Even if he does not have a history of cold sores, it is perfectly possible that he is still infected - 80% of people are infected with oral herpes by the time they enter high school, usually from friends or parents, so it is actually more likely than not that he is too. You don't need to be someone who has symptoms to pass the virus on - in fact 9 out of 10 people have no symptoms and are unaware they are infected, and even in those that know they get cold sores, the virus is often passed when no symptoms are showing. My boyfriend of 8 years gave me genital herpes this way, through giving me oral sex - although he did have a history of cold sores, he didn't have one at the time. This happened over six years into our relationship, so one partner suddenly getting herpes doesn't mean anyone has cheated.

Anyway, fingers crossed for you it isn't herpes after all. A 'lump' certainly wouldn't describe the symptoms of my first outbreak. You often have swollen glands in the groin and a high fever like with a bad does of flu, redness and a sore or blisters, but I never had a lump. It may well be something else.

sorry but yes

Sorry to say but yes. You can only get herpes through sexual contact with someone that has it. If you had herpes you would have red sores and/or blisters. I have never heard someone with herpes have a lump. I could be wrong, I have never had it so I dont know for sure but that doesnt sound right. It may be something else.

yes more the likely he has or he had it before from someone else or you had it before from someone else you cant point finger of how gave it to who its one of those things that stays dormet for some time before it comes out

yes there is a chance if he has been with someone before u and lied about it (some guys will tell u anything to get in your pants). there is an even bigger chance if someone has been with someone else before tor durring the current relationship. u would be in some pain and itching by now if u had herpes but i would get tested to be on the safe side. it could be an in grown hair or razer burn. if u test posative u should tell your boyfriend and there is a possablility that he could have cheated on u.
