Bloodtests?!

Question: so i have this way huge fear of bloodwork [like, mental breakdown when i have to have one] and ive avoided bloodtests for a good 3 years now, but im going to the allergists tomarrow and they sent me a slip saying no medicine of any sort a week before the appt, so im kinda guessing they might make me have bloodwork, and what i was wondering is if their doing a bloodtest, what are they looking for? its the allergist keep in mind, but are they gunna test me for drugs? [as in, is it standard to do a tox report with bloodwork] because ive taken medicine within the week that i had to have to calm me [anxiety medicine at night] but technically i shouldnt be on that medicine because it was prescribed by my old allergist, im just taking it anyway because it helped me and theres only a few days left of meds.

thanks guys, ino it may be kinda confusing but if you need more info jsut ask.

I doubt they'll draw any blood tomorrow. They'll probably do a scratch test. In this they take a board holding pin-like pegs that have various allergens on them and press it onto your skin. It just prickles a bit, it doesn't hurt and there is no blood. Then they will have you wait and see if bumps appear where your skin was pricked. If they do, the doctor can tell if you're allergic and how allergic you are.

The reason they don't want you to take medicine is if you take allergy medicine it will dampen your immune reaction and you might test as not allergic to something that you really are allergic to. If your medicine was not an allergy medicine it shouldn't matter, but you can ask your doctor.

If your doctor tells you not to take medicine or eat or do some other activity, they have a reason for it! Don't ignore the advice and not tell them about it, that could end up screwing up test results or even causing major complications if you eat and then have an operation under general anesthetic and end up vomiting. Always tell your doctor if you inadvertently didn't follow their instructions.

i hate bloodtest, they hurt a bit and they got me in trouble
