Best natural way to get rid of a cold?!

Question: I know there is no cure for the common cold.. but what is the best home remedy.. or natural item to relieve it and speed up the recovery process? I want some natural ideas.. I do not want to take anything like Theraflu or Cold medicines. First, I don't think they work and 2nd, I am breastfeeding. Thanks!

Well, nothing really. Sit in a steamy bathroom with the hot shower running to clear up a stuffy nose. Plenty of rest, and wash your hands before you handle your baby...

just sleep it off, best and most natural way.

Vitamin C, Sweat it out....I have always been told...so try some vigorous house cleaning or other forms of exercising!

Echinacea is the best, find a supplement with echinacea, and garlic. Whenever I feel a cold coming on, I start taking these, and it gets rid of it. Vitamin C, and olive leaf are good too.

Vitamin C Capsules
Lemon and Honey warmed up

Immune boosting tea. My mom makes me take it all the time. But it does work. Atleast for me anyway ^_^.

Airborne!!!

Sit at the bottom of your bathtub and turn on the shower real hot so u just sit in steam... relax!
Also green tea - The real kind, not with caffeine

Best is Echinacea. You can get it in the herbal supplements aisle in most stores. Pretty cheap also. When the symptoms start coming on, I start 3 at a time, 3 times a day... It will boost your immune system to fight the cold a lot faster!

You might dry Zinc lozenges like Zycad (or store brand). According to the box (and internet), the Zinc ions attach to the cold virus to help prevent it from getting worse. Cuts a cold duration in half.

Only thing is that they work better the earlier you take them (i.e. as soon as you get symptoms like the scratchy throat, etc).

WEAR thick and woolen clothes, socks and cover your head and neck. Drink warm water.stay in side.TAKE REST AND RELAX.TRY BE COMFORTABLE AND NATURAL.

there's nothing like chicken soup and tea with honey! (p.s- the whole "feed a cold, starve a fever" thing is not true!) if you want to eat, eat! don't starve yourself because you want to get better; you could make it worse. if you don't want to eat but feel very nauseous my sister and i love some dry toast with a little bit of butter if you want. it should make it better. get plenty of rest, take naps whenever possible (i know it seems impossible with a child, but just try to when you can) and try not to overexert yourself at all. you can also steam to open up airways. first, take a big bowl (biggest you can find) and fill it with really hot water. next, put a towel over your head like a hood and breathe in the steam.

Zicam - a homeopathic remedy available at all major pharmacies. Water. Vitamin C.
