This is.. petechiae?!

Question: I am fairly light-skinned, and I've always had this needle-tip red dots, almost invisible, on my skin. I found them mostly on my upper arms. I had about 10 or so on the left arm. They never went away.

It's obviously blood let out on the surface. It bleeds when punctured with a needle.

My family has a history of high blood pressure. My aunt has lupus, and I occasionally have low red-blood count. I don't know if this counts..

Yes, that is petechiae. It's very small capillary ruptures. It's often a sign of a low platelet count. You should talk to your doctor about it in case that is the problem and he needs to investigate further. It's not normal to have them so you need to find the underlying cause. It could simply be low platelets, which is also not normal and needs to be addressed or it coule be related to lupus...tell you doctor that this is in your family history. Best Wishes!! :)

Petechiae are nonblanchable punctate foci of hemorrhage; causes include platelet abnormalities (thrombocytopenia, platelet dysfunction), vasculitis, and infections (eg, meningococcemia, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, other rickettsioses).
Consult a dermatologist.
