shortness of breath, heavy breathing, wheezing, there are alot of signs. i would go to an allergist and asthma specialist to get checked out.

Running up the stairs may not be "real" exercise. My daughter was diagnosed with asthma at age 12 after having problems playing softball during the summer. She NEVER had any other problems breathing. The Dr. said it was exercise and allergy induced asthma. We took care of it by using an inhaler when needed...but most important she started taking over the counter allergy pills.
She is 28 and still deals with this issue.
But if you can afford it...go see a Dr. because these symptoms can be related to other things. Good luck

I used to have only exercise induced asthma...(running short distances and being out of breath, jumping and moving a lot and having trouble breathing). Now, I have many other triggers, (strong smells, when i get a cold, certain weather).

The best way to describe an attack is like an elephant sitting on your chest, OR like a fish out of water.
