Am I Lactose Intolerant?!

Question: I'm sixteen years old, and in the past few months dairy foods have started to make me feel sick. Whenever I eat even a small amount of ice cream, cheese, or chocolate or drink milk I get a churning feeling in my stomach and I feel too full. My stomach gurgles really loud. I have the gas and bloating but not diarrhea- I have to poop three times in about an hour if I eat dairy, though. My dad said that I couldn't drink milk when I was an infant because it made me sick. Lactose intolerance doesn't run in my family, could I have it anyway?

Absolutely.
Some infants can be Lactose Intolerant and then grow out of it but, looks like dairy is starting to affect you again. But to be on the safe side, see a gastrointerologist to get a clear answer.
In the mean time while you're waiting for your appointment with the doctor, switch to soy milk and other soy products and see if you feel better. The good thing is that soy is really good for women's health so, if you are in fact Lactose Intolerant, don't feel bad because you can't have ice creams and such. Hey, a soy milk Latte is heavenly with a little cinnemon.
=D

yep

I'd say Yes. So talk to your family doctor to make sure you get the essential nutrients that not consuming diaries will deprive you of. I have that same problem.
Good luck!

Yes you probably are, it is very common. It doesn't have to run in the family. You can take lactace before you eat dairy and you shouldn't have anymore problems with it. lactace won't hurt you so is safe to try and if it work then you will know for sure.
If you still have problems after lactace you could be developing an allergy to dairy. You can get a scratch test to find out for sure.

You are suffering from Lactose intolerance. You must avoid everything made of milk.

People have different degrees of lactose intolerance. It is advisable that you consult with a physician to confirm the diagnosis and to determine your personal degree of intolerance. Many people can tolerate some dairy, depending on its form.

Yes, you most probbly are. I am 42 and cannot drink regular milk- milks with lactose in them. I have found Lactose-Free milk in the stores. You need not drink those disgusting soy milk products.
My problem is only milk. I can put cream in my coffee and it does not affect me. Other milk products I eat are ok as well. It's just milk. I LOVE milk though. So try lactose free milk. It might just work for you, too. Good Luck!
