Rsv symptoms in a child?!

Question: My local news channel just had a segment about RSV going around. (Respiratory syncytial virus) My 17 month old has developed a pretty bad cough over the last couple of days and I am contemplating making a doctors appt. I don't want to overreact but if your child has had rsv what symptoms were they showing?

Call the doctor if your child has any of these symptoms:

high fever with ill appearance
thick nasal discharge that is yellow, green, or gray
worsening cough or cough that produces yellow, green, or gray mucus
Call also if you think your child might be dehydrated.

In infants, besides the symptoms already mentioned, call the doctor if your baby is unusually irritable or inactive, or refuses to breastfeed or bottle-feed.

Seek immediate medical help if you feel your child is having difficulty breathing or is breathing very rapidly, is lethargic, or if his or her lips or fingernails appear blue.

hope that helps.

rsv cough sounds like every other cough take your kid to the doctor
it is like strep you can't tell till the test is done
I doubt that it is but you should take him anyway

RSV usually is associated with breathing difficulty and wheezing rather than coughing. However you should still take your child to the doctor and check it out. It may be another respiratory infection. Good luck.
