About Wasabi Peanuts...?!

Question: OK, so I've just started eating wasabit peanuts and now I'm addicted to them - I've been eating them by the handful. And now my tongue feels coated, like it's swollen. Does wasabi actually burn the tongue? Since I've been eating some every day this has lasted for awhile. Is this something to worry about? Not related to the peanuts? Might I be mildly allergic to the peanuts or wasabi? Is this something someone else has experienced?

You should definitely get a test done to find out if you are allergic to peanuts as this allergy can be very serious if not detected. I only found out my allergy as my tongue and lips swelled several times and I mentioned it to the doctor in passing when we were talking about allergies one time and he immediately ordered a test because he said facial swelling is one of the signs of anaphalaxis and that it will get worse with every exposure.

Wasabi does not usually affect the tongue. It could be an allergy to peanuts as that is very common, but to be on the safe side, it is best that you go to an allergist and get tested for food allergies. Once, you know what you're allergic to, it's easier to avoid them.
