OK, First the obvious, diet well and exercise.

It is difficult while in school but it can be done. Try to avoid pizza and pasta dishes.

If you eat fruit eat it whole, no juice or applesauce. (I was shocked when I went to a class to learn how to eat to combat diabetes and the lady had us bring breakfast, She then said who has the worst breakfast in the room? Everyone looked at me [How Embarrassing!] because at that time my idea of a breakfast was a coke. I was a dancer and had an extremely high metabolism as well. I was amazed when she pointed to the people with orange juice and said they had more sugar in their drink then I did [Although she did point out that coke was not exactly breakfast of the champions)

You should eat a healthy diet with lots of veggies. Eat 5-6 small meals a day. Stay away from sugar. Look at the labels and if they have sugar or dextrose or the other 5,000 names for sugar in the first few listed ingredients of an item, Don't use it! You will be shocked to see what all has a ton of sugar! Eat seafood often. If you want salty try almonds.

Try Try Try to exercise. When I had a little time in school I would walk the stairs up and down and rather than waste expensive gas to park close to class, park at the edges of the lot and walk! You get exercise and many time you will get to class before the people searching for a spot!

Good Luck!

Check out Cooking Light magazines and cookbooks. They take traditional foods that we love and make a low-fat, low-sugar version that tastes great! There are also diabetes cookbooks out there. Many of these meals you cannot tell they are different from the others.

Since your Mom is a Diabetic, she can ask to attend the nutrition class and insurance will pay for it. They ask you to bring a family member so you will be able to go to! That is why I was able to go,

Good Luck!

It's generally hereditary, but if you eat right and exercise you lower the odds of getting it.

just walk every day and eat less sugary, oily and salty foods that is it. u r healthy. kick the diebetes arss by playing soccer everyday. running most of it.

Diabetes does run in families. Watching your weight as you get older, exercising every single day for at least 30 minutes and eating a healthy diet should decrease your chances of becoming diabetic. Snacks - fresh fruit or yogurt would be your best bets. There are also some very nutritious snack bars out there now such as Kashi Trail Mix Bar, Kashi Pumpkin Spice with Flax and Kashi Chewy Caramel Bars that are nutritious, low in sugar and calories and filling. If you had access to some milk (skim) to go with these bars, you would have a perfect snack. Stay away from the sweet stuff if you don't want to become diabetic early.

The best way to prevent diabetes is too maintain a healthy wieght by a healthy diet and exercising regularly. If you have a family history of diabetes, then you should be extra sure you do watch this.

well basically adults are at risk of Type II diabetes which are adult onset diabetes. It can be genetic or it can be due to your lifestyle. To avoid diabetes, I guess avoid a lot of sugar products because thats obviously the main reason. well diabetes is the body's inability to produce enough insulin. And insulin is secreted when glucose levels are high. so anywayz, eating too much sugar can hurt the kidney, eye and heart. Avoid eating too much cake, candies. Limit yourself. Exercise is always the best way to go. Some ppl who have Type II, the best remedy is exercise so always incorporate exercise into your lifestyle. well idk what to tell u not or what to eat. just i guess follow the food pyramid and limit yourself.

Avoid sugar and high amounts of carbohydrates. Eat balanced meals at regular times. Whole grain carbs are good. Losing weight helps control diabetes.
