Asthma and A cold?!

Question: So my B/f gave me a nasty cold and ever since this wed. My asthma has been best friends with it ( if you get what I mean), I have scheduled a appt. w/ my doctor tomorrow but in the mean time besides taking my inhaler what can I do? any home remedies or things that work for you?

Well, I also have asthma and I swear by two things:

1. A good air filter while I sleep
2. Saline nasal spray and/or Sinofresh

It's so important to keep you sinuses and throat hydrated.
Drink tons of water, too! I live in the South, so I've never used a humidifier, but those would work, too.

It's my theory that our sinuses produce mucus because they're dry. I don't know if that's medically true, but in the four years I've been using the two things above, I haven't gotten a single cold! Saline spray isn't like those decongesting sprays (like Afrin), so you can't be addicted to it.

I hate when that happens ! I can tell you not to you steam. You can use saline nose spray and a little bit of Vic's. Don't be afraid to go to the ER if it gets to be too much, you should not fool with asthma. Hope you feel better !

try strpsils for a bad cold they rele help (although they dont taste very nice, but they do the job) in the mean time i would wait till u see the doctor to give you some professional advice on what to do

1.) Drink lots and lots and lots of water!
2.) Drink hot tea
3.) Cough Drops will help you breathe better...I'm not really sure why...but it works like a charm for me
4.) use nasal spray
5.) Sleep with your head propped up under a lot of pillows, it will be easier to breathe and you will cough less
6.) Steam helps some people, but can make others feel like they are suffocating. you can try sitting in the bathroom with the door shut and the shower on hot ( moist air will help break up mucus in your lungs)
7.) Drink more water!
8.) If you have a peak flo meter, check it regularly. If it gets to low, go to the ER!

I've had terrible asthma since I was a baby, and these things have gotten me through many bad nights. Do you have anything else at home for your asthma besides a rescue inhaler? If you have a nebulizer don't wait 'til you can barely breathe to use it. If you need the inhaler more frequently then you are allowed to use it, or it doesn't clear your lungs at all, you need something else.

hope you feel better!
