What are some careers working with people who have Down's syndrome?!

Question: For some reason, I have always had a passion for wanting to help people with Down's syndrome. I know a career you're passionate about is the key to enjoying your job life, and working with people who have Down's syndrome would be that for me.

What are some careers where I would be working with children or adults who have Down's syndrome?

Thanks for your input!

Group homes, you will be able to assist and teach your consumers the everyday tasks that they need to use.

Classroom aide or special education teacher.

Social worker/case manager for those with developmental disabilities...you will inform families of the programs and services that they have available to them. You will look after the well being of the individual and make sure they are getting the care that the need wherever they reside.

If you want a bit of hands on experience before you decide that's what you want to do, I recommend volunteering for something like the special olympics so you can get a feel for the population.

These are just a few options you have available...some you will need schooling, some you would just need a high school degree. They're challenging, but can be very very rewarding.
