Is it normal that EVERY single day I always feel a lot of mucus in my throat?!

Question: I've been feeling like this for many years. I had nose surgery when I was 10 to get adenoids removed & then @ 11, I had to get swollen nasal tissues removed. But I've been feeling constant mucus in my throat since I was like 7 or so. I'm 24 now. Is it normal for people to have mucus ALWAYS in their throat?

Many times mucus in your throat is caused by allergies or acid reflux. However if you have had it since 7 years old, I wouldn't think it would be acid reflux. Does anything help it? Muscinex is an over the counter medication you can get that will thin the mucus. Until you get it diagnosed correctly by a doctor, Muscinex won't harm you and might help. You can get it at Wal-Mart.

Good luck.

Probably not. You should try consulting a doctor if you haven't. Sometimes excessive mucus can be caused from sniffing a lot and then swallowing instead of blowing your nose. Or simply by breathing with your mouth open when you sleep. If you do any of these things try stopping one, maybe it'll help.

Not necessarily...sounds like sinus drainage - I mean some folks have it more often than others. I guess it just depends on how much it bother's you.

Try drinking more water to start to break down the mucus a bit...(if you're not a water drinker already) and stay away from obvious milk products as they are VERY mucus forming. (milk, cheese, ice cream) - or at least cut back. See if either suggestion helps.

hmm, well im not to sure about this.. but isn't it a good thing to have some mucus in your throat? to help prevent germs and stuff? but.. i think its kind of normal, but if its a persistent problem then check up with your doctor.
