Question for Anybody who knows about Diabetes and Insulin injections?!

Question: I am an Insulin dependent Diabetic. When I give my self injections, quite often the injection site would bleed out a portion of the formula. Does this mean I did not get my full dose? Do you know any tricks to keep it from doing this? If it does this should I take another shot?

You probably did not get the full dose, but dont' give yourself another because you don't know how much leaked out.

One trick is to put the needle under the skin at an angle to the skin a little ways, rather than just straight in perpendicularly. Then inject before drawing back. The effect will be that you've deposited your insulin under the skin a ways, and not directly under your injection site, so it's less likely to leak out.

pull your skin away from the injection site before giving yourself the injection by placing your finger above the intended site, press down firmly and move the skin away. (press & pull). When you let go after you've injected the insulin unpunctured skin will move over the the site preventing leakage. do not give yourself another shot. You could have a hypoglycemic event.
