Someone gave me an air purifier. Smelling the clean air that comes out actually !
Question: For the first few minutes that the air purifier is on, I get a headache and my nose hurts almost like its not used to clean air, which is probably the case. Does anyone know why this happens? Thanks.

Your purifier could be cleaning the air with ozone. Ozone is poisonous, didn't know that did you environmentalists, but is found in trace amounts in our atmosphere. Hanging around electrical generators will get you exposed to higher amounts. Don't stick your nose in it, it is not a rose. Make sure the room is large enough for that model. If it uses a heat source (unlikely but possible) then you could be smelling the industrial lubricants buring off. Most likely ozone.
It could be that the air is just too dry and that can agitate the delicate skin inside your nose.
it is probably an Ozone air purifier... just turn the ozone and the fan down. too much ozone is actually poisonous to us.
It *may* dry the air out, causing drying in the mucus membranes of your nose and in your sinus cavities. I know it's not a dehumidifier, but it's possible that the air is drying out as it passes through the purifying mechanism. Consider getting a humidifier.

you have it turned up to high.....or just the ionizer is too high
