Cerebrospinal Fluid?!

Question: Does a clear CSF automatically rule out anything Neurological, even when other Neurological signs and symptoms are visible?

Answers: Does a clear CSF automatically rule out anything Neurological, even when other Neurological signs and symptoms are visible?

No. But it would be a good indicator of a lack of a disease process like meningitis. It could possibly also rule out certain metastatic diseases.

Not at all. I have a shunt and at one point had to go to the er due to what I thought was a shunt malfunction. They found out I had an infection and ended up doing a shunt tap. The CSF was completely clear and the doctor said there probably wasn't anything to worry about. Well there was because I had a gram negative pseudomonias shunt infection.
