The best ways to prevent or reduce the number of colds one gets, is to avoid close contact with those who are obviously ill, wash one's hands frequently, practice good oral hygiene (viruses and bacteria thrive in the mouth), eat well, exercise, get adequate sleep, drink plenty of fluids.

You can't really stop a cold but you can shorten the duration & intensity by taking Zicam or Airborne at the first signs. This stuff really works.

Healthy diet. A good multiple vitamin. Vitamin C. Most importantly Hand washing . Be aware of what you are doing. Sneeze into your arm not your hands. When washing hands use as hot of water as you can stand Example.. I go to wall-mart I open the door (germs from millions) on my hands. I go to the stall open the door (germs from millions) etc.......... the sink t wash your hands you turn on the water more germs.... Use the paper towel pull quite a few pieces out have ready. Wash your hands (for as long as the ABC song twice) under nails etc. When finished don't touch the handle to turn off the water you've just put all those germs right back on you. Use the paper towel to turn off, also use to open the door when you leave the restroom. Big one was very hard for me to change Quit touching my face. Mouth eyes etc.

eat alot of fruits, especially oranges, and take meds that increase immune system, such as that airborne stuff

HANDWASHING!!! Sing the happy birthday song to yourself two times every time you wash your hands(thats how long it takes to get your hands clean)
