the prednisolone are little pink tablets which are steroids and they help fight infection and they are not an antihistamine the beclazone is another name for becotide and the salamol is not the same has Ventolin . the reason he has to take 8 puffs of the salamol 4 times a day is to help keep his airways open and the beclazone is the preventor. he will have to take the preventor twice a day even when he is better to help prevent him having another asthma attack. read carefully through the leaflets in all your sons medications to help you understand what does what. dont be alarmed by the side affects as these are very rare, but like all medication you should look out for any unusual things. if you are totally unsure then phone the ward back up and get the advice from them, they are very good with things like this.

the predisolone in a steroid tablet they are pink which you dissolve in water

im sure these are the same just different supplyers

the brown is a preventer which helps the lungs with time the blue is for difficulty ie tighting of chest

if you are not to sure call back the hospital and let then know you are unsure

did they not show how to give inhalers with spacer

Hi, I know Beclazone is a preventer. I have to have 1 puff twice a day and it really does help in preventing asthma attacks. Salamol I think is the same as Ventolin and is used when you have an asthma attack. It relaxes the muscles in the throat and opens the airways.
Doesn't really answer the question I know, but with help from other answers it may help you piece it together.

I know that Salamol is the same as Ventolin cos I take it. But as my symptoms are not too bad I don't take as much as your son.
I don't know about the Beclazone/ Becatide as I only use the one. I hope he's okay and tell him to have a good christmas from "Funky Munky."

Yes, Salamol is a fast acting inhaler similar to Albuterol. Beclazone is a corticosteroid which will reduce inflamation in the lungs.
The Prenisolone is also a corticosteroid which is also to reduce inflamation.

Your son will feel very hyper and may have some mood swings with being on the steroids.

Did the pharmacy mention anything about all the dosages? I am wondering if 8 puffs is not a rather high dose for a three year old...and two different steroids....just wondering is all.

the first 2 you mention are inhalers, to be used regularly. Prednisolone is a Corticosteroid, to alleviate the inflammation in the bronchial tubes and lungs. You must complete the course, as directed by the doctor

Salbutamol aka albuterol
