Does breast cancer always recure?!

Question: Have you or anyone that you know been breast cancer free and never have it to return? And if so how many years have you or them been breast cancer free now?

Breast cancer recurrence does not happen with everyone who gets breast cancer. Family history and genetics are often good indicators of whether it will recur or not. Other factors that help reduce the chance of recurrence now are known to be exercise and diet regardless of one's weight. Overweight women are more likely to have a recurrence than those who're slimmer. Generally, recurrence will happen within the first 3 years or so of diagnosis, as happened to a dear friend of mine.

The links below talks a bit about recurrence:

It doesn't recur in plenty of women. If it was found at an earlier stage, it is less likely to recur.

You should be cancer free for at least five years from the day that youwere diagnosed to be declared safe....

<>< My Mom had breast cancer 22 years ago and has not had a recurrance. I have been cancer free (Uterine) for 5 years now.

It depends on the stage when it was first discovered. If there were not any positive lymph nodes under the arm, then there is a really good chance that it will not ever come back.
Each woman is different. Different stages of cancer have different percent chance of recurrence. Your oncologists can give you the statistics for your particular disease.
But remember, you are a person not a statistic!

No it does not always recur.

But the fact is that it can recur at any time, even after years have passed. Recurrences are most likely to happen within two years of treatment. You are statistically less likely to have a recurrence once five years have passed, but NO doctor will then tell you that you are cancer-free.

There is no 'all-clear' with breast cancer. I am delighted to be four years from diagnosis, but I know I will never be free of the fear of recurrence or metastasis.

That said, many women live the rest of their long lives without being troubled by breast cancer again.

I'm hoping to die laughing at 103. I'm not counting on it though.

I hope so too lo. You're a gem.
