Sore throat, runny nose, aching headache. What can i do?!

Question: I've been sucking on Losenges, i have one every 4 hours.
I've had warm tea, we have no honey.
I've been in a hot bath, twice a day, every day, for three days.
What can i eat or take that will heal all of these, and not just put it off until later, like Motren's been doing.
I do not have a humidifier.
HELP!
So what can i take to heal this? And heal it fast? Its the holidays! And i cannot go to the doctor.

Dude, sorry, but it sounds like you have a virus. There is nothing that works better than doing what you can to relieve the symptoms.

For the runny nose, go to the drugstore and ask the pharmacist for Sudafed. (It is behind the counter now.) Sudafed dries up nasal secretions.

If you are sneezing, ask for an antihistamine, preferably a Claritin product because it is non-sedating.

For the aches and pains, you can take Motrin, which is a fine choice. If Motrin is not enough, you can stagger Motrin with Tylenol, taking each every four hours but with a staggering such that you are taking one of the two every two hours and the other the next two hours.

For the sore throat the lozenges are OK but you might find a spray called Chloraspetic works better.

There is an herbal preparation called echinacea. When taken as a whole the medical studies have shown that it does not work for a cold, but some individual studies show it does work.

You can take extra vitamin C but not more than 1000 mg per day.

Finally, there are some zinc preparations at the drugstore that some people claim help, and some studies back that up.

In medicine there is a saying: for a cold you can medicate heavily and be cured in 7-10 days. If you do nothing you will feel better in 7-10 days.

If you have influenza vs. a cold, you can get prescription meds. A flue comes on very suddenly, with a high fever and headache and joint pain, and a dry cough. Dry cough means you cough but nothing comes up.

buy some vicks they help alot or buckleys it tastes bad but works good and fast

=( sleep.
feel better.
gl. =)

Nuerofen

take a rest ,drink more fluids...gargle a warm water with cider vinegar and salt, drink orange juice fresh one

Try nyquil, or coldeeze...there is also a new product out called Emergenceez...

Really there's no cure but check at Wal-Marts pharmaceutical area and there should be something that relieves that symptoms for long stints of time. I've been relying on cold medicine for a week now.

TAKE SOME DIFFERENT MEDICENE!!!!

Hot tea is good for your sore throat, and take some Robetussin cough and cold, it works pretty fast. Or get some DayQuil and NyQuil. Makes you fall asleep like a baby.

the best medicine for it is glass of hot milk and 1 table spoon turmeric powder,
its very good during everyday health issues.
you can also put a little sugar to taste.

Sorry to hear that.

Try drinking orange juice & focus of fluids like chicken soup.

Also, try taking Panadol. And add honey to your tea, it helps heal your throat faster.

If nothing helps, go to a doctor.

best of luck:)

Sore throat spray, for the runny nose just try to blow your nose ALOT and take mucinex, it works, and stay in bed and take like motrin maybe for the headache.

I take vitamin C supplements, 2 capsules of 500mg a day. Its been about months since I've been sick with runny nose or sore throat & other sorts. Consult your doctor regarding taking vitamin C supplements. hope it helps.

Have someone go buy you the following:
Zinc lozenges ... take according to directions.
Vitamin C ... take 2000 mg daily (up to 5000 mg daily).
HONEY
REAL lemon juice (in a jar, not necessarily by that name)
diphenhydramine hydrochloride pills (generic Benadryl).
Then, do the following ...
Dress warmly and comfortably, but BE SURE your feet are 'covered and warm' ... take ACETOMINOPHEN (generic for Tylenol) every 12 hours, and take aspirin every 5-6 hours for your headache.
If you have HIGH blood pressure, take the Coricidin HBP cold medicine for 'sore throat and congenstion' ... if you don't have high blood pressure, take any good 'cold pill' to relieve your symptoms of sore throat and runny nose (you may have to have them asked for at the pharmacy if you want a decongestant, but there are some sold OTC).
Pour water into the largest pan you own, or the largest bowl and set that on the floor beside where you are sitting or lying down ... you don't need a humidifier, but you do need to add humidity to the air. If you have a fish tank, sit near that ... ANY WATER added will humidify the air adequately.
NOTHING you can take or do will 'cure' your rhinovirus at this point. The zinc lozenges are best if take as soon as you feel the first symptoms, but they can be started ANYTIME. Zinc helps us 'heal faster' ... and the Vitamin C 'overdoses' will also help you heal a bit more quickly.

Now for some 'odd items' ...
Get PUFFED CHEETOS and nibble on them when your throat is really sore. I know that Cheetos seem 'counter-intuitive, but I've used them for many years, and they are the BEST THING for soothing a sore throat. There is 'salt' and 'cheese' on those things, and something in the 'cheese' helps the salt to 'cling' and when you eat that the cheese helps the salt to 'cling' to your throat and soothe it. Try it, it really does WORK.
BEWARE ... there is a rhinovirus going around now that can last three weeks or LONGER. If possible, stay home and take care of yourself, because it's HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS and you don't want to spread it around ... that's better for both you and the population at large ... now write the list and send someone to the store and go back to bed ... or take a hot bath (I LOVE HOT BATHS) ...
