Is it true that boils in your armpits are staph infections?!
Question: That's what someone here on Y!A told me. I get them ALL the time. & also I heard that it might be the deodorant that's causing it. I have one right now that hurts & won't pop. Maybe I shouldn't squeeze it, but it hurts. It feels like a breast cancer lump, but I know it's not. & yes, I've heard how you can get breast cancer lumps in your pits.

They are some type of infection. I am not sure if it is staff all the time but it is an infection. Hot packs will help bring it out. If you squeeze it you risk infection going into the surrounding tissues. Antibiotics help. You may want the doctor prescribe some for you.
I don't think deodorant would cause a boil, but perhaps may irritate your skin enough to let an infection get in.

Boils are entirely different from breast cancer lumps. If the boil is doesn't pop, try hot fomentation. Dip a towel in hot water, keep it on the boil for a few minutes, repeat it a few times. That should make the boil to rupture.
Yes, most of the boils are due to Staph infection. It may also be due to any other organisms too.
You need to take antibiotics.
Yes, this is staph and is usually from shaving and the little hair cannot get back out from under the skin. Maybe changing to an electric shaver for under your arms might help. Most of these clear up without medical treatment and squeezing them can often make them worse, driving the small infection deeper into the tissues and making it a big infection. Breast cancer lumps do not have pus in them and are swollen lymph glands. This is probably not the cause.
Everyone has staph all over their skin - this is normal. It is when it gets trapped underneath the skin that then causes an infection.
If you shave your armpits it could be an in grown hair.
Staph is a systemic infection and if you kept getting it, but only in one spot, then it isn't systemic and isn't staph.
But, see a doc or dermatologist to address this - reoccurring could indicate a cyst that's just refilling.
Boils certainly can be caused by staph, they can also be caused by streptococci or many other types of bacteria, but those two are the most common. If you have recurrent boils, then I would see your doctor about it (and don't squeeze them, it's not likely to help and may lead to them getting superinfected), it sounds like culturing them to try and figure out exactly what's going on may be warranted.
Boils are pockets of infection and need to be treated with antibiotics.
People who get repeated boils should get screened for diabetes.
I was in school to be a nurse I didnt complete it but let me help you out. all boil is is a big pocket of puss. You get them when an area of your body stays moist and rubs together. Try switching your deodorant. And talk to your doctor if you get them all the time you might need a special deodorant. Dont be embarrassed people get them all the time. DONT WORRY ITS NOT THAT SERIOUS!!!!!!!!! If it gets to big and bothersome go to the emergency room they can lance it for you and it doesnt hurt, it actually relieves the pain.
