Bright Red like its fresh? If so, then it is from the lower part of your tract, probably the sphinctor or rectum. Could be from hemorhoids, straining to hard, or having a large/hard bowel that tears the rectum.
Dark Red/Black blood is usually from the upper part of the tract. This could be caused by anything from cancer, ulcers anywhere from your stomach through your intestines, or other things.
Blood is never good, and black is worse. I would go to a doc.
If the blood is fresh (bright red) then it is probably hemerhoids brougth on by the constipation. If the stools are tarry or black, it could be colon cancer. Get to a doctor and have it checked out.
You should go at least once a day. Constipation can cause you to strain and then you see blood. If it continues, get a check up with a colonoscopy, which after a certain age, should be done about every 5 years if you don't have any problems.
I don't think you have anything to worry about.
But a check up with your GP will put your mind at rest.
Better to be safe then sorry.
