Sounds lika Cystic Acne. I s it all red and painful? If so, ice it on and off for 20 minutes and put toothpaste on it when you go to bed.
I wouldn't recommend using toothpaste, since it actually makes the acne condition worse (toothpaste has acid and can aggravate the condition).
If it is red and hurting, go ahead and use an ice pack. Be sure to wash your face everyday. I recommend the OXY line of acne prevention/facial care products. I have sensitive skin and OXY works really well on it, preventing my breakouts and leaving my face feeling fresh and clean.
I'm pretty sure I know what you're talking about. I've had weird bumps "inside" the skin on my face (e.g. around my chin, nose, forehead) before. If it's not that bad, swollen, or whatever, just wash the area and take care of it with really good acne-fighting products and facewash/cleansers.
