Unfortunately I'm all too familiar with cancer. My mom was battling a rare spinal cancer called myeloma in 1992 that left her in a wheelchair for a year. She died five years later, but she did recover enough to be able to walk again(with a cane) and enjoy life again.
In 1996 cancer hit my sister(my only sibling). She had ovarian cancer and had to have surgery to have her ovaries removed. She was only 24 at the time, extremely unusual to get it at that age. She's still alive, thank God, and cancer free.
Last week, I heard the dreaded cancer word again! I was just diagnosed with melanoma on my right leg. I have to have surgery on my right leg in Feb. My prognosis is excellent; I was told I have a 95% chance of being cured. My family and I have been through a lot, but we're tough!
My Mother had lung cancer which is almost always fatal. She had surgery to remove the tumor. It was an awful surgery but she lived for over 20 years after that, and died of something else. There is always hope. Keep the faith!
I had breast cancer five years ago..went thru the surgery, chemo, radiation, lost all my hair, etc, so far so good..has not returned.
