Is lotion/moisturizer REALLY needed after face wash?!

Question: i have some small breakouts on my forehead right now, and i have HUGE pores next to my nose. they're also always red.
well actually, theyre not THAT bad as it sounds.

but the thing is,
i've always been using a cetaphil moisturizing lotion after my daily 3x face wash. and i noticed that it gets(or at least looks) oily and more red when i put it on...

right now, i'm using neutrogena's deep clean facial cleanser(normal to oily skin) , and it seems a little dry at first without lotion, but after a while it feels good without lotion.

so, is it better putting on lotion after a wash?
or not, since i already have a kinda oily skin?

You should use lotion but I would try switching to a different kind. i use cetaphil face wash and garnier lotion, it just depends on your skin type. if you don't use lotion, however, it could be making your acne worse. If your skin feels dry it will start overproducing oil, clogging the pores and then voila, more pimples. Find a happy medium, it will probably take a lot of trial and error.

Try skipping the lotion in the morning and see how that works for you.

I would use lotion only at bed time...this way your face will look/feel oily when nobody would see you...but will still get the moisture from the lotion.

well I'm 32 i use lotion/wrinkle cream always and one with a SPF if I'm going out if i were you i would at least find an eye creme because this is where wrinkles come 1st, maybe use some around your lips where laugh lines come in. you may not think you need to worry about this now but it is never to soon to start a routine.

If you wash your face more than twice you should put lotion on. Facial lotion...not body lotion. Use something that is oil free. Washing your face more than nessessary dries your skin and makes it itchy and red. But make sure since your using Neutrogena ance wash, to get a Neutrogena moisturizer. Mixing up your products isn't good for your face.
