I would like to go on accutane for my acne, but...?!

i took it, the main side effects are dryness. it worked very well. the person above said you can't tan after it, which is false. i went to the beach last summer and got pretty tan, this was after i was on accutane. i've never heard of it changing the pigment of your skin.
It works for everybody. I don't know what "side effects" you're "scared" of - a little chapstick will help your lips, and you can't get pregnant while you're on it, and you can probably handle that.
I was on accutane for the full 6 months and the side effects are pretty bad, especially the dry lips and mouth. Another lifelong effect is it will change the pigment of your skin. If you like getting a tan you will not be able to tan very well even after you are finished with your treatment. I'm much more sensitive to the sun now. On a good note, the treatment did work and I have not had any cystic acne for over 20 years. I will still break out if I use the wrong makeup or lotion but nothing like I did before the treatment. I was on it for.. A year, on and off. And now my acne is slowly coming back, although it is not NEARLY as bad as it once was! It has a LOT more side effects than just dry lips.. personally, I experienced extremely dry eyes in the cold, it sometimes gave me headaches and stomaches, made my ankles sore for about 8 of the twelve months...
HOWEVER, let me tell you that due to personal error and error of my dermatologist, my course (?) was not completed as it should have been. I was on it for about 4 months, forgot to go to one appointment, and was off of it for about 2 months and then went to the dermatologist again and went on it for another 6 months instead of what was supposed to be a nine-month course.
Have you really tried everything? I wouldn't..........
