No meat of any kind Including fish and chicken. No refine foods. No saturated fats of any kind. No junk food of any kind. Eat ONLY vegetables and fruit. You can eat as much as you want and not gain weight and but up a great immune system. That might sound boring but there is a lot of varieties of food out there to enjoy. No exception to these rules. Taking a pill to control your cholestrol will only make your liver not function like it should and they say a lot of people who take cholestrol pill for over 5 years start having other medical problems. So you have a choice to do it natural or medical. Just research as much as you can and make a wise choice.

Eat plenty of fiber, fish(not fried), green leafy veges. The doctor can write a scrip for lipitor after an exam.

i'm 15 and i had cholestrol that was becoming higher with everyweek. now i'm not a doctor but what you can do is drink some cholestrol tea that really helped alot to lower it w/o any medicines and other artificial stuff. ask your doctor what you should do

get on Lipitor or another staten
take some niacin 500-1000 mg a day will help raise your HDL (the good one)
loose some weight, exercise

You MUST talk to your doctor about this and be monitored and have your blood tested regularly in case you develop liver problems, but try the following:
Take Niacin daiy ... 1000 mg in the morning, 1500 mg in the evening. You may 'flush' (most people do) but it doesn't last more than an hour, and it is the BEST way to get rid of cholesterol fast.
Take Flax Oil pills ... at least two a day, up to six a day (be careful, because these have 'calories' if you are on a calorie restricted diet.
Take Omega-3 Oil pills ... again, two to six a day, again these have calories ...
If you doctor prescribes it, also take a 'statin' ...
You can also do things like start eating oatmeal every morning, or have oatmeal added to other foods, since oats are wonderful for lowering cholesterol.

I know these things because both my husband and I have heart disease, and he has peripheral atery disease (cholesterol in his veins in his legs causing pain. His stroke doctor (yes, he's had one of those, too) put him on Lovastatin, but that didn't reduce his cholesterol fast enough, so I talked to our doctor, who told me to go ahead and give my husband everything I take too (I do NOT have a 'statin' prescription because I have no insurance and the pills are extremely expensive) ... my husband's cholesterol dropped over 50% in three months. We both need to lose weight and get more physical exercise, but we are doing that too ... but I do know one thing ... when my husband was on just the statins and I was on the Niacin, my cholesterol dropped faster. Then I added the other two pills, and my cholesterol is now 'below normal' for the high cholesterol ... but my doctor says I still need to get it down to BELOW 50 (normal is 150 LDL) and keep it there to be truly healthy because I've had two heart attacks. Hey, if I am down to below 97, I can do this, and I can still 'live well' and enjoy life for many more years. Good luck ... take 'regular' Niacin, not the 'slo niacin' though ... it works faster and better, but the flushes are strong ... you do get used to them, though, and you WILL feel better as soon as the 'twice daily flush' is over. THAT IS HOW FAST NIACIN STARTS TO WORK.

Omega 3 & Fatty Acids!

Don't buy just any Omege 3's---Remember the product must be cold pressed and distilled, or it is not doing you any good, the cheaper ones being sold are not cold pressed and distilled and can increase your cholesterol!
Flax Seed Oil is another helper!

Gee, Low Density Lipoprotein isn't it? Sometimes it can cause heart disease due to accumulation of fats in the arteries that may lead to blockage. If you're living a healthy lifestyle, I doubt that you may had a high cholesterol levels. Because sometimes the number one cause of LDL was based on the Lifestyle of an individual.

There are several treatments/ preventions

1) Diet Modification: Carbohydrates has also glucose; so abstain a bit, there should be an increase intake of PROTEIN since your protein levels are very low. Avoid NON-SATURATED FATTY foods like MEATS. If you want to use an oil if you're cooking then switch to canola, olive or vegetable oils (though its expensive).

2) Exercise: burn those calories, exercising enhances the heart muscles

3) Pharmacological Tx (treatments)
First before taking the drugs, consult your physician (cardiologist) for further assessment and evaluation. All I know that drugs that has "Statin" were usually given to decrease levels of Lipids. Example Atorvastatin or the famous LIPITOR,NORVASC...

4) Monitoring of Lipid Levels (Lipid Profile; usually the doctor will give orders for laboratory test

Hope I helped!!! Goodluck

Dyslipidemia is elevation of plasma cholesterol and/or TGs or a low HDL level that contributes to the development of atherosclerosis. Causes may be primary (genetic) or secondary. Diagnosis is by measuring plasma levels of total cholesterol, TGs, and individual lipoproteins. Treatment is dietary changes, exercise, and lipid-lowering drugs.
Consistently ranking number one, Lipitor holds the title by a wide margin. Its annual sales of $12.9 billion were more than twice those of the next drug on the list. Lipitor treats high cholesterol, which is a major risk factor for heart disease.

You didn't say what your total cholesterol LDL or HDL was. These are important to consider.

The makers of Mevacor tried to get the FDA to take Red Yeast Rice off the market because it is a natural statin drug. It is very effective at lowering LDL. However; as with ANY statin drug, it is necessary to take Coenzyme Q10 with it. Take the soft gel CoQ10 and make sure it is highly absorbable. All statin drugs deplete the body of CoQ10.

The heart is usually the first to feel statin associated CoQ10 depletion because of its extremely high energy demands. Physicians are seeing this as cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure but chronic fatigue is also being reported and we must remember that every cell in the body is dependent upon adequate energy reserves.

You also need to consider what the level of your cholesterol is. Levels that are too low are also dangerous.

Do your homework before going on any medications.

There are foods that naturally lower LDL. Some of those are rolled oats (oatmeal), fish high in Omega 3 fatty acids, nuts such as hazelnuts, peanuts, pecans, some pine nuts, pistachios and walnuts. LImit your intake to ~ 1.5 ounces a day. Eat them in replacement of foods that are high in saturated fats such as meat products. I eliminated pork from our diet and added more fresh fruits and veggies.

Exercise and a sensible diet are the best way to get your LDL under control, and the exercise increases the HDL (good cholesterol).

Be very careful about prescription statin lowering drugs.

The stronger statin drugs such as Lipitor can be associated with profound cognitive disturbances in some patients. There are now thousands of patient case reports of amnesia, forgetfulness, confusion and disorientation, at times severe and incapacitating. With some cases lasting months and years, another very important point is that cognitive side effects can appear after months and years of seemingly trouble-free use.

In exercise I will suggest you to do yoga which will be very useful to you.

Diet.
