Help with Synthroid and Cytomel please?!
Question: I am taking 0.125 mcg of Synthroid everyday. I have six months taking this medication and I am worse everyday. I am fat and tired all the time. My doctor is a little weird and when I asked her about take Cytomel (T3) she told me that I don't need that and she changed the subject immediately. I was reading and seems like many doctors are like that. I will buy the Cytomel online but I need to know how much I need to take with my Synthroid? 5 mg, 25 mg or 50 mg? I need to lose weight and feel strong again.
Thanks!

The Cytomel dosage is roughly 5-10% of the T4 dosage. Many doctors will lower the T4 dosage when adding the T3 (Cytomel) However, usually the T4 dosage goes back up to where it was. When I was on T4 with Cytomel, I was on 75 mcg's of T4 and 5 mcg's of Cytomel.
Your doctor won't add the Cytomel. How about switching to Armour or Thyrolar which are both T4 and T3. I have been on Levoxyl, Levoxyl with Cytomel, and finally on Armour. Each step was a little bit better. I do feel my best on Armour.
Weight loss won't happen by adding T3. You'll have to diet and exercise as well. Remember once on t4/t3, you will be going by free t4 and free t3, not by tsh
