There are millions of different strands of staph and so many different types of symptoms. You should definitely call out of work. You need to get this checked out ASAP so they can prescribe an antibiotic. Especially since you are working in a nursing home, it is important to get it treated so you do not pass it on to others. Call out tomorrow no matter what and get better!

And so what if they don't? Will they fire you for taking care of the most important priority, that being your helpless child? So what if they have a problem with it, do what you've gotta do!

Well, if you work with the elderly, and you are worried that you have something contagious, then yes, they will understand. Most work places understand if you need to take your kid to the doctor. Duh. Staph infections are usually transported through blood contact, but you better be safe. As for the spots on her cheeks, babies get a form of acne, too. It's probably just that. No big deal.
