use blistex or carmex it works really good my bff get cold sores alot (dont ask how) and she uses blistex and theyre gone in a snap of a finger

I only use carmex.It works great.I use it all winter to keep away chapped lips also.They are caused by a virus from fever or dirty hands.Keep your hands clean and don't let people touch your face,I know ,sounds corney but it is true.I was married to a guy thay wouldn't ever wash his hands,He was always trying to put his hands on my face,you know,just acting stupid.I had fever blisters all the time.I divorced him ten years ago and haven't had another fever blister.True story.
talk to a doctor, or you could just keep it clean until it heals. mouth sores heal relatively quickly.
dont take it off. just dont touch it and dont irritate it. it will go away in time.
get some carmex and go to the dr. to get prescribed valtrex....should be gone in 3-4 days

There is a new medication out on the market called Abbreva which is just for cold sores. It will help dry it out but cold sores take about 2 weeks to go away. You cannot "take it off" unless you want to leave a scar.
You can put ice on it which will bring the swelling down. Be sure to put the ice right on the sore and MAKE SURE not to move the ice because cold sores spread. You can go to the pharmacy but they take a while to work. Your best bet is to go to the Dr. and they can prescribe a medication that can speed up the healing process. Remember to wash your hands even after holding the ice, do not use anyone else's towels and to keep it moist so it doesn't crack apply Caramex.
abreva is the only thing that has worked for me. You can buy it over the counter, and really reduces the amount of time its present. Just don''t pick at it!

Put ice on it.
Rub ice on the sore for a few minutes. do this every 10 minutes for an hour. This worked well for me. Ice will ease the pain.

When the cold sore starts to tingle rub the juice of an aloe plant on the cold sore area to stop cold sore from ever breaking the skin.
