Marker pen on skin = ink poisoning?!

Question: I've been trying lately to keep a tattoo on my forearm by writing the same words daily with a permanent marker pen.
I haven't noticed any rashes or anything but I stopped because I was worried that constant exposure to ink might lead to ink poisoning.
Is this true? Can you get ink poisoning by repeatedly writing on skin or is this just an urban myth?

You can only get ink poisoning if you ingest ink or if it gets into your bloodstream. Your skin won't absorb any ink if you draw on yourself. You can not get ink poisoning by writing on you hands or arms. Only if you cut yourself and then put ink on you cut. Then you have great chance of getting ink poisoning.

my parents tell me that all the time just to scare me
I think you have to write on like a cut or something so it will lierally go inside of you

yes only if you do it on a cut then you get poisend and it gets big and black. p.s I tryed it once it wasn't pretty

umm.. idk. i've heard it from alot of places but mostly from gullible stupid people, so i don't know what to think, but im pretty sure that nothing will happen

Sounds like an urban myth to me. By law, manufacturers aren't allowed to use lead in pens or pencils for the very reason of poisoning.

Is this a temporary or permanent tattoo? If it's permanent, you may need to get it re-inked. Temporary ones will only stay on for so long.

yep,all the chemicals in the ink CAN be leached through the skin, you would probably have to writin on every day for the next 20 years but it would kill ya.whats wrong with gettin these henna ink things from the herbalist shop, they last for weeks!
