Allergy question regarding runny nose in the morning only?!

Question: I know its some sort of allergy, but Im confused as to why its only in the mornings? I get a really runny nose and sneezy about 4 days a week, when i wake up, even if i wake up in the middle of the night, the tingles start and then my nose runs, and it stops after about 30 mins or so wether i stay in bed or not. Ive recently bought a new bed, moved into a new house with new carpets etc. Anti allergy tablets do work, but i dont want to be taking these for the rest of my life, any ideas?

it seems like Allergic Rhinitis to me, anti-allergy tablets does help indeed, though you don't need to take it for the rest of your life. What's more important is determining the cause of your allergy. There are skin patch testing that can be administered by your doctor who specializes in allergies to help find out what you are allergic to specifically and what to do to avoid it. There are so many causes of allergy in our everyday life, such as house dust, bed mites' excretion, pollen, weather changes, scented perfume, paints, food allergies, contact type allergies, emotional causes,.....so on and so on..... Best help is through doctor and self awareness.

I have the same problem. I was told that it was where I keep my fan on at night, which dries my nose out. You didn't say whether or not you sleep with a fan on, but it could be because your nose is dried out. Also, mine occurs when I go out of my cold room into some warm area.

I have a similar thing, but I blame it on the central heating and dust.
You could go see the doc/nurse and they can define the allergy.

It may be that you're allergic to the new dust mites on your new bed and in your house. The symptoms are worst in the morning because when you're asleep the snot is not being blown out and builds up plus you can't sneeze when you're unconscious so it'll happen when you wake up. It'll probably calm down sooner or later but if it doesn't then you may want to invest in some protective sheets and duvet cover which reduce the effects of dust mites which you can buy from shops that sell bedding - just make sure that the price isn't much above normal bedclothes as a few places are a bit extortionate. Washing your bedding a little more often than other people may help too in that the dust-mite pooh will not have as much chance to build up and be inhaled. Since your carpets are new then loose fibres will float around when the carpets are walked on and these will be inhaled and irritate your nasal passages though this will lessen the older the carpets become and the more they're trodden on. Plus there will probably be dust still around from the previous occupants of the house, which you won't be used to but as the house is dusted and you've lived in it for a while this will lessen. If you don't get any better then I'd see the doctor.Good luck:-)

Remove the carpet from all your rooms if thats possible and get wooden floors or lino. And if you sleep near a window, make sure its not letting any loose air in.

I have the same problem. I've noticed that what I eat during the day effects me the next day. For instance, if I eat a lot of junk food or daily I'll sneeze and have to blow my nose the next morning. Check out your diet, it may be something that you need to eliminate.
