I'm having anxiety attacks--->What should i do?!

Question: ...other then med...

Answers: ...other then med...

you should trust your heart to those who treasure it so... building a wall around it is not going to help you. You are having panic attacks because you deny yourself... no medication other than the truth is going to make any difference.

It depends on how bad your anxiety attacks are. Some people really do need medication. You may want to try some some calming exercises, get a massage, there is some over the counter herbal stuff for anxiety at health food stores you might try.

I used to have these all the time, I thought I couldn't breathe and that I was having a heart attack. I would call my sister and she would calm me down and tell me that I am not having breathing problems and such. Bottom line, everything is going to be fine. Talk to your friends even if it's 2am. Get on line and chat with someone, clean house, excesrsize, do anything to get your mind off it!!!!

I see from your profile that you are 23 years old. My anxiety started at 22 and was pretty bad at this time as well. Now I am 38 years old and feel so much better. Age really helps because you realize anxiety is just mostly "in your head". I know the feelings are real... I was there BUT it is what YOU do to yourself with YOUR thoughts! It is hard but you have to stop thinking about "What if?" What if this happens or what it that happens? Did u know that most people suffer anxiety at age "22-23" ? Right on. Why? You feel like you should know what to do with your life? You think there should be answers and a plan? Naturally, at this age you are ready for child bearing (or if you are a male providing a labor for your female that is child bearing). In today's world your are still young for either of these. Try hard to stay of the medication.
Especially those that are considered hard to come off (Paxil,
Effexor etc). If your attacks are really bad look for therapy. Try exercise, hot baths, candles and music, whatever helps. Maybe even some herbal remedies, valerian root etc. Keep searching, even church or meditation. Keep studing and asking for help, just like you did here. You will find YOUR specific answers to help you through YOUR rough time. From your short question I can see that you are smart enough to look for a long term solution without a short term fix. Good for you. Don't be ashamed. Most people with anxiety are ambitious and smart. Two of the most important lessons I learned to ease my anxiety were... 1. You can NOT be happy all of the time. You are going to have your bad days. Expect them, they will pass. 2. Slow down. You can not have all of your answers today. It is okay to take your time and wait. Good things will come. Good luck. You will be fine and your attacks will get shorter and further apart until they are gone.

anxiety attacks are basiacly panik attacks but are triggered differently. To stop these happening well atleast help them when you get stressed go for a walk or swim something keeping you busy but also relaxing. This refreshes youre mind.

Dang Moonbell i wish i knew what tontell you.I know you can lay down put some soothing music on' like really light jazz' and take breaths like breath in slowly the n push out slowly ..everyone i know has these they had mesication.you could try this and drink a cup of tea before bed or hot shower as when i;m really stressing it works foe me ....Lots of luck hun.

get a peice of paper and write down all your thoughts while you are going through this

put down the list , walk away , then come back and read it again

recognise the problem, fix what you can

AND LEAVE THINGS THAT YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER

ASK Jesus, to help you and forgive you and teach yo the way of peace.
and Nag Jesus
and read the Bible
Psalms especially
Make the point of dropping all your inhibitions, and find a new way to respond and not to react

that is just the start

Here are two highly recommended programs for treating anxiety disorders:

The Panic Away Program - http://www.cureanxietydisorder.com/panic...

The Linden Method - http://www.cureanxietydisorder.com/linde...

The numerous testimonials offered by successful patients are evidence of the effectiveness of these treatments.

You can do two physical actions that help very much:

1. slow, deep breathing for a good amount of time. this involuntarily slows the anxiety response.

and/or

2. exercise robustly, such as pedalling a bike up a hill. this tires you, taking with it the anxiety.

Your body is working in overdrive when you're in a state of anxiety or panic. Got to reverse it.
