if its just starting i put on some nail polish, (if its stil closed) and leave it on for a day. Clear if i have to leave the house. Keep putting on layers and peeling and more layers. Don't be scared, it doesnt hurt. (please dont try this if you've alreasy poked the sore open)

And try to keep yourself from picking at it, if you're one of that sort. Make sure your hands are always washed before you touch your face.

The most totally gross thing my mother used to make us do,before any of the new drugs or ointments were out, was to drink baking soda dissolved in water..it was nasty, but it helped get rid of them. keeping your hands off of it, making sure you wash your hands constantly, but the best way I have ever had was Zilactin. I have suffered since I was a small child, and, my son has as well. This medication is over the counter, costs about 10.00 and works the best I have ever seen. It lasts a long time too, so you can use it later on. It is worth the cost!! The doctor can also give you a prescription for Valtrex, while this is used for genital herpes, it also works great for cold sores.

Make a cup of very strong black coffee and ab it on the sore every 30 minutes. Use clean cotton wool each time. It does work.

Firstly, dont lick the sore or erretate it.Putt toothpaste on it to dry it out, and dont scratch the dry skin off it till its completely healed.
