i'm juvenile diabetic, and can personally say that
it doesn't affect your life unless you let it.
being married to a diabetic wouldn't be
any different than being married to a person
without diabetes.
i think it's a bit insensitive of you to just
spontainiously ask about such a touchy
subject for some people and would encourage
you to visit www.jdrf.org and read up by yourself.
It isn't a big deal IF you take care of yourself. That means a healthy diet, exercise, monitor your blood glucose and regular checkups with your doc.
If you don't take care of yourself, then you are in for big health problems.
For me, my bg is very easy to control so I don't have to be THAT careful about my diet, and if my bg gets a little high, I just add a few extra blocks to my walking regimen.
It's a very serious disease, however it does not have to disrupt your life, if you take care of yourself.
Being married to a diabetic is like being married to anyone else. As long as it's under control, it's not an issue.
My nephew age 13 is Type 1 and has been since he was 2 years old. It is different for him since he must be very careful what he eats and drinks, and his friends do whatever they want. If you take care of your health and monitor your condition there is no reason why you can't live a long and healthy life.
It sucks but we have to deal with it til they make us a cure....I don't think I could marry a diabetic, what if you both passed out with low blood in the middle of the night, lol!!
