Can you get acute kidney failure by having a kidney infection?!

Yes, this is possible.
Acute renal(kidney) failure can be of three types.

1.pre renal failure- this happens because conditions affecting the kidney before it comes to the kidney..
for example, loss of water in the body or in shock..

2.renal failure due to problems in the kidney..
here the infection come into play..
these can include infections which affect the kidney such as leptospirosis, heaptitis..

3.post renal failure is most probably due to some obstruction in the urinary pathway such as the ureters, bladder, urethra etc..

if you're a diabetic and have lousy kidney function and high creatinine...sure

if you have a kidney infection you need to be treated by a doctor. i don't know about kidney failure but my mom get lots of kidney infections and if she waits to long to go to the doctor she has to go to the hospital for treatment. it can make you really sick.
