Has anyone had to go to the hospital at night for an asthma attack?!

Question: Yes, several times. I have had to go and have several bags of IV steroids and been nebulised. You should NEVER drive yourself, you could lose consciousness at the wheel. Get your parents to drive you, or call an ambulance.

The general rule of thumb is that if you have a reliever inhaler, take it once a minute for five minutes. If your symptoms have not improved by then, call an ambulance, or if you are really far from a hospital, get your parents to drive you (its better to get there sooner than wait for an ambulance). In my case, I have gone when my symptoms haven't improved with an inhaler, they are very bad, I can't speak properly anymore and my lips have started to turn blue. Check out the list below for what to do with different levels of asthma attacks.

many times, when the albuterol just doesn't cut it...usually had to get a shot of adrenaline,

btw: I used to wake up unable to breathe also but I have considered that I might have sleep apnea also...something you might check into!

Yeah I know a friend of mine that was having a bad asthma attack and she would have died if she didnt.
