I had a really thick red loogie this morning. is that a sign of something?!


Question: i coughed and spit a real thick loogie and when i looked over in the sink, it was reddish color and reallly thick..i was nervous and been thicking all day if thats a sign of something bad? if you kno please help maybe it was just thick mucus. red tho? happen once only so far.....and i been spiting alot of mucus latly...i do smoke ciggerettes but less than 3 a day.....i toke antioxidants and vitamins today..along with some cought medicine..

If its blood,then thats a sign of a pneumonia type problem in the lungs...and smoking doesnt really help lol the cough medicine you took will probably help the thickness and mucus in the spit.I would call your doctor and also ask him or her.

Reddish color=dried blood=Nothing good.....

Is it cough syrup? If so, what color was it? I've been admitted to the hospital before because they thought I was coughing up blood but it turned out to be red robatussin(sp?). And the syrup part would make it thick, so. Yeah.

If it wasn't red, you should see a doctor because you may have internal bleeding of the lungs and that can result in death and that wouldn't do ANYTHING for your Social life. ;-)
